Question
I'm having difficulty determing which formula(s) to useto solve this problem. Two blocks are sliding to the right across a horizontalsurface, as the drawing shows. In Case A the masses of both blocksare 3.0 kg. In Case B the mass of block 1, the block behind, is 6.0kg, and the mass of block 2 is 3.0 kg. No frictional force acts onblock 1 in either Case A or Case B. However, a kinetic frictionalforce does act on block 2 in both cases and opposes the motion. Inthe drawing, the direction to the right is the positivedirection. What is the magnitude a of theacceleration of the blocks in Case A? Could someone please help me so I can solve thisproblem.Explanation / Answer
a = fk/m1 +m2
