Question
Given the rate equation...
RATE = ([ Na2S2O3]/time) = k[I-]a[BrO3-]b [HCl]c
1A) You mix together in the proper manner the following:
1B) You also mix together in the proper manner thefollowing:
2) If the exponents a, b, and c have the values:
a = 2; b = 2; c = 0
CALCULATE:
Rate constant k for data in 1A...______________ (b)
3) You mix together in the proper manner the followingVOLUMES:
4) A plot of log Rate vs 1/T gives a best straight line whichgoes through....
1/T = 0.00300, log rate = -4.37
and 1/T = 0.00351, log rate = -6.00.
CALCULATE:
The Slope of the line..._____________ (d)
The Activation Energy (Ea)(Kj/mol)...________________(e)
Explanation / Answer
I am not that good in chemistry but I can tell you that the infoyou have should be enough to determine the order of the rxn. Itlooks like in 1B you doubled the amount of potassium bromate, andit cut the rxn time down by 1/4th or 1/5th. Once you figure out theorder of the rxn rate, you can plug in the values into the equationyou're given, and it will all fall into place. Good luck!
