If you answer this ques, please show a good explanation, Ihave answers but, know idea how to get them and I will rate. Thanksfor your time. ...A certain copper wire has a resistance of 9.9 . Atwhat point along its length must the wire be cut so that theresistance of one piece is 7.0 times the resistance of theother? Q1 answer was..1/8 of the length. Q2: What is the resistance of the LARGER piece? the answer is8.66 Q3: What is the resistance of the SMALL piece? the answer is1.24 If you answer this ques, please show a good explanation, Ihave answers but, know idea how to get them and I will rate. Thanksfor your time. ...A certain copper wire has a resistance of 9.9 . Atwhat point along its length must the wire be cut so that theresistance of one piece is 7.0 times the resistance of theother? Q1 answer was..1/8 of the length. Q2: What is the resistance of the LARGER piece? the answer is8.66 Q3: What is the resistance of the SMALL piece? the answer is1.24Explanation / Answer
The wire has uniform resistance. If you cut the wire into twoequal pieces, each piece will have exactly 1/2 of the resistance ofthe single piece of wire. You want two inequal pieces, one tocarry 7 times the resistance of the other. The smaller piece has x resistance, the larger 7x. 7x + x = 9.9ohm 8x = 9.9 ohm You therefore want one piece to be 7/8 length of the wire, and theother to be 1/8 of length. To find the resistance, 7/8 * 9.9, and 1/8 * 9.9
