“In a small TV picture tube, an electron moves horizontallyat 5 x 10 m/s through the space between two 4 cm x 4 cm horizontaldeflection plates separated by 1 cm. The potential differencebetween the plates is 3000 V. (a) How long is the electron in thedeflecting electric field? (b) Calculate the vertical impulse givento the electron. (c) What is the vertical component of theelectron’s velocity after it leaves the deflectionplates?”
He wrote that the answers are:
(a) 4. a. 8 x 10-10 s b. 3.85 x 10-23 Ns c. 4.2 x 107 m/s
I'm struggling to understand how he got those answers. Couldsomeone please explain them to me? I will definitely rate high ifyou give a good explanation. Thanks so much!
