When a telescope is focussed for an object at infinity, thefirst image fored by the objective lens is formed at the focalplane of the eyelens. That is, the distance fro the image to theeyelens is = its focal length, f. Then, if F is the focal length of the objectivelens, F + f = L the length of thetube.
