Question

Whenever two Apollo astronauts were on the surface ofthe Moon, a third astronaut orbited the Moon. Assume the orbit tobe circular and 620 km above thesurface of the Moon, where the acceleration due to gravity is0.912 m/s2. The radius ofthe Moon is 1.70 X 106 m. (a) Determine the astronaut's orbital speed. (b) Determine the period of the orbit. Ok to start off I changed 620 km to m which is 620,000. Then to find the total radius I added 1.7 X 10^6 + 620,000 =2,320,000 to find the angle I used tan = 1.7 X 10^6 / 2,320,000 = .7327586207 Then I took the inverse tan of that number and got 36.23241876Degrees then to find A) v = rgtan (2,320,000)(.912)(.7327586207) = 1.245150593 E3 =1.25 E3 For B) Period = 2r / v            (2)(3.14)(2,320,000) / 1.25 E3 = 1.17 E4 They are both wrong..... What did I do wrong??? Will rate high Whenever two Apollo astronauts were on the surface ofthe Moon, a third astronaut orbited the Moon.
