Question

Aconverging lens of focal length 19.1 cm is separated by 48.7 cm from a converging lens ofthe focal length 4.23 cm. Find the position of thefinal image with respect to the second lens of an object placed38.7 cm infront the first lens.
- I got this correct, final image distance q2 = 6.877cm
- also, final image height with magnification is 1.196cm
If the two lens are now placedin contact with each other and the object is 5 cm in front of thiscombination, where will the image be located? - I need help with this part,do I need any of my previous answers to do thisproblem?? Explanation / Answer

If the two lens are now placedin contact with each other and the object is 5 cm in front of thiscombination, where will the image be located?
when the lenses are in contact the effective focallength=1/F=1/f1+1/f2
after finding out the effective focal length use 1/v-1/u=1/F
as u and f are known we can find out location of the image iev

- I need help with this part,do I need any of my previous answers to do this problem??
no
