I am calculating incidence rate of HSV infection in first 4 years, where number of people under study was 2000.

So, initial rate of E-cigarette smokers having the disease = number of cases in the first year = 30

In the fourth year the number of cases became 210

So, number of new cases for the first four years= (210-30) = 180

180 cases per 2000 persons in 4 years are there. So, incidence rate = 180 / (2000*4) = 0.0225
