Question

The drawing shows three objects. They are connected by stringsthat pass over massless and friction-free pulleys. The objectsmove, and the coefficient of kinetic friction between the middleobject and the surface of the table is 0.149. (a)What is the acceleration of the three objects? (b)Find the tension in the string attached to the 25.0 kg object.(c) Find the tension in the string attached to the10.0 kg object. I have figured out that the acceleration of the 3 objects is0.2625 m/s2. But I can't seem to find out what (b) and (c) are. Cananyone please walk me through these steps? I amconfused. Any help would be greatly appreciated! (I have already reviewed textbook help, but have failed to getthe correct answer)

Explanation / Answer

   we use the newtons second law of motion tothe blocks    for the left mass m1    T1 - m1 g =m1 a .......... (1)    for the right mass m3    T3 - m3 g =- m3 a .......... (2)    for the middle mass m2    T3 - T1 -k m2 g = m2 a ..........(3)    the acceleration is given by    a = (m3 - m1 -k m2) g / (m1+ m2 + m3)    solve for the tensions    T3 - m3 g =- m3 a .......... (2)    for the middle mass m2    T3 - T1 -k m2 g = m2 a ..........(3)    the acceleration is given by    a = (m3 - m1 -k m2) g / (m1+ m2 + m3)    solve for the tensions    T3 - T1 -k m2 g = m2 a ..........(3)    the acceleration is given by    a = (m3 - m1 -k m2) g / (m1+ m2 + m3)    solve for the tensions
