Question

ENGS 220 Class Activity 2 What do you recommend to the driver in the below scenario to minimize the injury due to the potential accident? Discuss using the momentum equation. A driver has to stop the vehicle on the road. The image on the rear-view mirror is scary, a careless driver doesn't seem to be reducing the vehicle speed, so a collision is almost inevitable. What is the best thing that the driver of the front car can do? Pressing the brake pedal hard, or letting it go? Or any other suggestion? End of document

Explanation / Answer

If the driver who is driving car stops suddenly then the careless driver will hit the car definitely and the impat will be very high due to change in velocity will be too high. because the careless driver will come to rest after collisions.

but if the driver gives himindication of stopping and take his cars speed slowly to zero then it will be more appropriate than stopping suddenly. that might be less dangerous than previous case
