On making this hit, the ball left the bat at 110 mph after the initial impact. the ball left the bat at an angle of 45-degrees, with respect to the ground, calculate the maximum height of the ball, as it goes 'out of the park". Assume that the bat contacted the ball at 0.91 m above the ground. A Major-League Baseball has a mass of m = 0.145 kg. Select one: a. 32.7m b. 66.31 m C. 0.86.6 m d. 96.4 m Previous page Next pageExplanation / Answer
Maximum height in a projectile,
H = (u sin theta)^2/2g
Here u =110 mph = 0.447*110 m/s = 49.17 m/s
H = (49.17* sin 45 degree)^2/(2*9.8)
= 61.67 m
Maximum height above ground = 0.91+61.67
= 62.58m
Option b is closest
