A copy of the human SRY gene is tagged with a radioactive chemical and applied to 8 pre-embryo from this couple which is growing in the laboratory dish. The probe lights up in 6 of the embryos. The couple has one of the remaining embryos, which lacks the SRY gene, implanted to continue the pregnancy. Why did the parents select the embryo without the SRY gene top continue development?
