You are to write a summary of the following article:

Nixon-Abell, J., Obara, C. J., Weigel, A. V., Li, D., Legant, W. R., Xu, C. S., ... & Blackstone, C. (2016). Increased spatiotemporal resolution reveals highly dynamic dense tubular matrices in the peripheral ER. Science, 354(6311), aaf3928

In this article, I want you to focus on the following items:

What is the background (what are the authors trying to do with this research). For example:

What are they interested in?

NOTE: This is a review article, which means the authors are compiling and discussing previous research in this field. Consider why an author would want to do this. This will help you to explain the author's interest in the field, and the background.

Specific Details that must be in your summary (You are writing an essay, so don't just answer the questions. Each point is worthy of at least one paragraph):Describe the thesis/hypothesis.

NOTE: This is a review article, so what you are trying to do is figure out the main theme. This will help you to word a thesis statement.

Explain the movement of ER tubules and junctions, and why this is important.

Explain Fig. 2Peripheral ER “sheets” are highly dynamic and riddled with spaces.

Explain how the researchers created 3-D images of the ER.

What conclusions do the authors reach?

Provide a reflection of what you learned from reading this paper.

Remember, you must write this in essay format, and your writing must be of collegiate standard (review, revise, & edit). Remember, you are not trying to rewrite the article, but provide a brief summary that demonstrates your understanding of the article.

Your summary must be between 600-800 words. After the summary, I want you to write a one paragraph reflection of what you learned from reading this paper.

Explanation / Answer

1). The objective of the study is to provide a detailed description about the morphological features and dynamics of the peripheral endoplasmic reticulum by using superresolution imaging technologies. The peripheral ER is in contact with the other intracellular organelles and suspected to comprise of tubules and flat sheets.
