Question

Part D Exercise 26.21 The two light bulbs are now connected in parallel across the 120 V line. Find the current through each bulb Enter your answers numerically separated by a comma. Two light bulbs have resistances of 400 and 800 . 400 ,1800 = Submit My Answers Give Up Part E Find the power dissipated in each bulb. Enter your answers numericaly separated by a comma. O? Pao-Pao = Submit My Answers Give Up Incorrect; Try Again; 5 attempts remaining Part F Find the total power dissipated in both bulbs.

Explanation / Answer

D)

V = Voltage across each bulb = 120 Volts

i400 = current in 400 ohm resistor = V/R = 120/400 = 0.3 A

i800 = current in 800 ohm resistor = V/R = 120/800 = 0.15 A

E)

P400 = V2/R400 = 1202/400 = 36 Watt

P800 = V2/R800 = 1202/800 = 18 Watt

F)

Ptotal = 36 + 18 = 54 Watt
