Question

Could you help me solve this physics problem?

please have the writing neatly, or typed, thank you by a lot!!!!!

2.2 Ski Jump You want to design a ski jump on a mountainside. A skier will start from rest and slide down a 10 meter tall ramp that is angled at 50 above the ground. Assume there is no friction. At the bottom of the ramp, the skier has velocity vramp, and over a negligible distance the ramp flattens out so that the skier is only moving horizontally. The ramp then ends. If you want the skier to fly through the air (ignore air resistance) for 8 seconds, where should you build the landing pad with respect to the end of the ramp? Give both vertical and horizontal position. You may treat the skier as a point object.

Explanation / Answer

Conserving energy between top and down of ramp

Mg(10sin50) =0.5 MV^2

V= sqrt(2g10sin50)

V=12.25m/s

After 8se

X coordinate = Vx8

X= 98.02m

Y coordinate = 0.5gt^2

Y = 313.6m
