Ship A makes an angle of 45° with West. And after 2 hours its distance is 70 mile.

Hence its components are (-70*cos(45°), 70*sin(45°))

Similarly for ship B, the components after 2 hours are (80*cos(70°), 80*sin(70°))

Hence, the distance between them is given by:

s² = {80*cos(70°) + 70*cos(45°)}² + {80*sin(70°) - 70*sin(45°)}²

= 5907 + 659 = 6566

=> s = 81.03 mile

he distance between the ships after two hours = 81.03 miles.

Speed of the ship A as seen by ship B is given by:
