If a current flows in the op What is the value for I1? tem 3 Consider the following circuit for which Ra 27.0, R, 10.5 = 12.5 V , and VS = 7.50 V . Each battery has an internal resistance of r-1.1 . Indicated in the figure are lines indicating a presumed direction for the current in each branch. Explanation / Answer

here,

Ra = 27 ohm

Rb = 10.5 ohm

Rc = 15.5 ohm

Rd = 17 ohm

Re = 17 ohm

V1 = 15 V

V2 = 12.5 V

V3 = 7.5 V

using KVL in the upper loop

I2 * Rc + I1 * ( r + Ra + Rb) = V2

I2 * 15.5 + I1 * ( 1.1 + 27 + 10.5) = 12.5 ...(1)

and

using KVL in the lower loop

I3 * ( Rd+ Re + r) - I2 * ( r + Rc) = V3 - V2

I3 * ( 17 + 17 + 1.1) - I2 * (1.1 + 15.5 ) = 7.5 - 12.5 ....(2)

using KCL

I1 = I2 + I3 ...(3)

from (1),(2) and (3)

I1 = 0.22 A

I2 = 0.25 A

I3 = - 0.025 A
