The little girl is suspended 2.0 m from the center of mass of the board, while the center of mass of the board is 0.25 meters from the edge of the ground etc. (assume that the forces associated with the various masses act at the positions dictated by the measurement arrows). The little boy starts tossing apples to the little girl on the swing, where she keeps them in a bag. If each apple has a mass of 0.50 kg, how many apples can he throw her before the board tilts and they tumble down the hill?

developing the sum of moments from the left hand side of the board,

( 20 + 0.5 n) (2) = 10 ( 4) + 20 (4.25)

20+ 0.5 n = 20 + 42.5

n = 85 apples
