Hospice - Care designed to give supportive care to people in the final phase of a terminal illness and focus on comfort and quality of life, rather than cure.
Palliative care - specialized medical care for people with serious illness.
Euthanasia - the practice of intentionally ending a life in order to relieve pain and suffering.
Active euthanasia - a person directly and deliberately causes the patient's death example when a person is killed by being given an overdose of pain-killers.
Voluntary active euthanasia - occurs at the request of the person who dies.
Involuntary euthanasia - when the person who dies chooses life and is killed anyway. This is usually called murder, but it is possible to imagine cases where the killing would count as being for the benefit of the person who dies.
Passive euthanasia - they don't directly take the patient's life, they just allow them to die.
Living will - a written statement detailing a person's desires regarding future medical treatment in circumstances in which they are no longer able to express informed consent, especially an advance directive.
Bereavement - the loss of a loved one by death
