8. 0/2 points| Previous Answers GioCP2 6.P.034 My Notes Consider a roller coaster that moves along the track shown in the figure below. Assume all friction is negligible and ignore the kinetic energy of the roller coaster's wheels. Assume the roller coaster starts with a speed of 15 m/s at point A. Find the speed of the roller coaster when it reaches locations B and C. (Assume hA = 48 m and hB = 24 m.) VB = X m/s vc = X m/s Need Help? Explanation / Answer

Apply conservation of energy between point A and B

mg hA + 1/2 m vA^2 = mghB+ 1/2 m vB^2

mg ( hA- hB) + 1/2 m vA^2 = 1/2 m vB^2

g ( hA- h B) + vA^2/2 = vB^2/2

9.8 ( 48-24) + 15^2/2 = vB^2/2

vB = 26.37 m/s

speed at point c is

mg hB+ 1/2 mvB^2 = 1/2 m vc^2

g hB+ vB^2/2 = vc^2/2

9.8( 24) + (26.37)^2/2 = vc^2/2

vc= 34.14 m/s
