A solution is a mixture of solute and solvent (e.g. salt and water). When the concentration of solute (salt) is more than the solvent (water), the solution is known as hypertonic. While as when the concentration of solvent is more than the solute, then the solution is known as hypotonic. Hypotonic solution will have less osmotic pressure as compared to the hypertonic pressure.

Hypertonic solutions are more acidic than the hypotonic solution , also hypotonic solutions are more cooler than than hypertonic, the former has more water molecules as compared to latter.
