When two populations containing two different species interact with each other for a long time, the changes that occur in the gene pool of one species lead to the changes in the gene pool of other species. This process is known as co-evolution. The changes in the gene pools either make the species more competitive or avoid or reduce the competition between the species.

The interaction between bats and certain species of moths can be given as example for co-evolution. The bats hunt at night using echolocations by navigating the prey. They emit the high frequency and high intensity sound waves that bounds off the objects so that they can capture the prey easily. Counter measure to this action some moth species have evolved with ears that can sense the found frequencies of bats and escape from the predator.

Therefore, co-evolution can be evaluated by frequency, type of interactions and evolutionary potential or strength of a specific trait to be incorporated into next generation through the selection. Therefore, option 4 is correct.
