QUESTION: Are the following Q&A's correct? Also, what is the answer to the second question in #6?

Q5.   What happened at approximately 10,000 BC to cause the human population to rise quickly above ~1 million worldwide? What does this indicate was a limiting factor on the human population previously? (2 points)

A: Population is growing by leap and bound from 10,000 BC to more than 1 billion today this rise in population is due increased life span, decreased death rate due to better medical facility and better quality life.

Q6.   What caused the human population to decline at about 1350 AD? Was this a density dependent or independent factor? (1 point)

A: Population decline in 1350 AD was due several reasons, such as flood , competition over agricultural        land, environmental factors and depletion of resources.

Q7.   What are the top three things Nigeria is doing to control population growth? (3 points)

A:

1   Family planning - people should not have more than three children, use of contraceptive

2   Education - educating people about the large population and its consequences

3   Financial concern - Eradicating poverty and giving incentive to people to have less children

Explanation / Answer

Q5.   What happened at approximately 10,000 BC to cause the human population to rise quickly above ~1 million worldwide? What does this indicate was a limiting factor on the human population previously? (2 points)

A: Population is growing by leap and bound from 10,000 BC to more than 1 billion today this rise in population. Thus the main reason for this rise of human population quickly from 10,000 BC onwards is the fact that man changed his life style from head hunter gatherer to farming and finally there was a rapid development in technology, (Pduinker). This lead to increased life span, decreased death rate due to better medical facility and better quality life. So correct answer

Q6.   What caused the human population to decline at about 1350 AD? Was this a density dependent or independent factor? (1 point)

A: Population decline in 1350 AD was due several reasons, such as flood , competition over agricultural land, environmental factors and depletion of resources. Correct as the causes of the human population decline at about 1350 AD might have been factors like sub-replacement fertility (along with limited immigration), heavy emigration, disease, famine, and war. So the answer is correct. Since population regulation is a density-dependent process, meaning that population growth rates are regulated by the density of a population. Hence this is a density dependent factor, (Boundless)

Q7.   What are the top three things Nigeria is doing to control population growth? (3 points)

Based on the article in Encomium, “ WHY YOU SHOULDN’T HAVE MORE THAN THREE CHILDREN”, the following are correct measures are correct:

1.        Family planning - people should not have more than three children, use of contraceptive

2   Education - educating people about the large population and its consequences

3   Financial concern - Eradicating poverty and giving incentive to people to have less children
