(a) If the tension in the cord is 67 N, what is the lamp's mass? (b) What is the cord's tension when the elevator ascends with an upward acceleration of 2.2 m/s27 (a) Number Units (b) Number By accessing this Ouestion Assistance, you wa learn you earn points based on te Port Potential Poky set by your Question Attempts: 0 of 2 used SAVE FOR LATER SUBMIT ANSWER answer tis question correctly in your first actempt

Explanation / Answer

a) From the Newton's second law

ma = mg -T

The mass of the lamp is

m = -T /(a -g)

Here T = 67 N

a = -2.2 m/s2

g = 9.8 m/s2

m = -67/(-2.2-9.8) = 5.58 kg

b) The tension in the string, T = m (a + g)

Here a = 2.2 m/s2

Substitute the values.

T = 5.58 x (2.2+9.8) = 67 N
