Chlamydia infection is generally sexually transmitted infection which is cause by Chlamydia trachomatis. Chlamydia can be spread during Direct contact with fluids. It can be transmitted to new both baby though pregnant mother. It can also occur through direct contact with infected tissue such as conjunctiva. It has the ability to establish long term association with host cells. Epithelial Mucous membrane is rather delicate and is able to absorb a number of substances and toxins. When the lining of the cells Is broken the role of mucous in preventing the infection gets affected while the external epithelial cells protective tissues and generally epithelial cell of skin is having the protective function and acts as a first line of defence. That is why mucosal epithelial cell is more prone to infections.
