You have been asked to write an article for your local newspaper presenting an argument for or against the use of a technological system that uses gravitational, electric, and/or magnetic fields. To do this, you must analyze the technology's operation and then present the advantages and disadvantages of the impact of this technological system on society and the environment. You must present both sides of the argument but present a clear opinion on whether or not you believe this technology is good, or not so good, for society and the environment. Remember, you are writing for your local newspaper, not scientists. You must explain everything in language that anyone who reads the newspaper can understand. At the same time, as a requirement for this course, you must apply knowledge that you have learned in this unit. Your article should be between 800 - 1000 words.

Explanation / Answer

In the present era, we are all surrounded by so many electric , magnetic and gravitational systems which works for us. Present generation enjoying life with such systems. We can do almost everything with the help of electric and magnetic systems.

Electricity is the flow of electrons. From many dacades we are using electromagnetic systems as power sources. Electromagnetic power is pollution free and easy to use. It is easy to transmit and store.it is not polluting the environment like coal nor do we have to destroy our environment to get the raw material as electrons are everywhere. It has no radioactive components that can explode violently or produce dangerous radioactivity for thousand of years. It is renewable, we will never run out of electrons or magnetism.Beside being clean and renewable, electromagnetic systems are versatile. Now a days we have magnetic generators and motors which works on electromagnetic phenomenon. Out present society is totally dependent on the electric and magnetic systems.

Gravitational systems also play a major role. At hydropower stations , water run under gravity from high altitude lakes to run turbines. The wireless system in the whole world is based on satellites which run in orbit only due to force of gravitation.

There is also a dark side of such systems.

People get electrocuted. Our earth is full of radio frequency(RF) waves.We all are surrounded by such electromagnetic waves which causes so many health related problems in human beings and animals.electro magnetic waves or mobile signals has affected the population of birds in last dacade.

We are generating the elecric energy from radioactive nuclear plants which is a serious issue for the mankind. It pollute the oceans and earth surface. Its effect remain for hundred years which causes cancer like diseases.

We should find a better way to live the life and must analiye that what we are giving to our next generation. A better place to live or something else.
