She felt very tired and weak and complained of dyspnea and chest pain. Although she had been on a strict diet and lost 60 pounds over the last year, her family was concerned that she was having a heart attack and took her to the local ER. Doctors ruled out dehydration, but found some potentially troublesome changes in her ECG that warranted an angiogram while they were waiting for her blood work to be returned. the above mentioned symptoms are related hypocalcemia. calcium is an important element in myocardium contraction. Reduced calcium levels causes abnormality in cardiac rhythms, seizures, spasm in th airway etc.,.in the curent condition dyspnea might be due to spasm in the air way.
