Explanation / Answer

(a) To see distant objects clearly, objects at infinity have to be focussed at the far point of the eye so that the eye can then focus them on retina

P1=1/f1= 1/do+1/di= 1/infinity+ 1/(d-FP) = 1/(d-FP)

(b) P1= 1/(d-FP) = 1/(0.019-1.5)= - 0.6752 D

(c)to see an object at a distance N( closer to the eye than its near point) clearly, the objecthas to be focussed at the near point of eye so that image focus ob retina

P2= 1/f2= 1/do+1/di=1/(N-d)+1/(d-NP)

(D) P2= 1/(0.25-0.019)+1/(0.019-0.6)= +2.74 D
