Consider the New Year countdown display shown below in Fig. 1. The display has ten light bulbs going up a pole and we want one light per second to illuminate (with the previous one turning off), starting from bulb 9 at the bottom of the pole, and ending with bulb 0 at the top. Design the combinational logic circuit that controls the light bulb bank using the minimum number of 2x4 decoders and the minimum number of external gates.
