Question
The 3 loads in the circuit given in Figure 6 are described as below
Load 1 is absorbing 7.5 kW and 2.5 kVAR
Load 2 is 10 kVA with a power factor of 0.28 leading
Load 3 is 12.5 OHM resistor in parallel with an inductor with a reactance of 40 OHMS
a) Calculate the average power and the reactive power delivered by each source if Vg1=Vg2=250/0degrees V(rms)
b) Check your calculations by showing that the total real and reactive powers developed are equal to the total real and reactive powers dissipated in the circuit.
Explanation / Answer
total power given by the vg1 = 7.5 + 2.5i +10+3.125i = 17.5+5.625i
total power given by the vg2 = 2.8 + 9.57 i ++10+3.125i = 12.8 + 12.695i
see the power consumed by l3 = 20 + 6.25 i which is equally shared by both.
the power given by the vg1 + vg2 = power consumed by the loads .
