Question
Determine the V-I characteristics of a regulated DC voltage supply with its output voltage set at 20 V (no-load) and its short-circuit current limit set at 80 mA (see Figure 1). (I don't know how to attach a picture but I can describe it) You have a DC supply running in series with an Ammeter and a load resistance of 3K or higher and the load resistance is in parallel with a Voltmeter. Determine the I-V characteristics of a regulated DC Current supply with its output current set at 100 mA (no-load) and its open-circuit voltage limit set at 20 V. What do they mean by these two statements? For example, are they asking us to keep Voltage or Current constant in either statement and vary the Resistance finding the unknown Voltage or Current or what?Explanation / Answer
1) while drawing the V-I characterstics
when no load means load restor is opened
load current is zero
V=20 V
I=0
when short circuit means load resistance=0
load voltage will be zero
I= 80 mA
V=0
now we got two points (V,I)
1)==> (20v, 0)
2) === (0, 80mA)
plot voltage on X-axis and current on Y-axis
represent the points on X-axis and Y-axis
now Join the points
that will be the V-I characterstiscs for the given
