Question

An air compressor is used to pressurize a tank volume of 3m3. Simultaneously, air leaves the tank and is used for some process. At the inlet, the pressure is 400 kPa. the temperature is 25 degree C, and the velocity is 2 m/s. At the outlet the temperature is 25 degree C. the velocity is 0.5 m/s, and the pressure is the same as that in the tank. Both flow lines (inlet and outlet) have internal diameters of 2 cm. The temperature of the air in the tank is a constant at 25 degree C. If the initial tank pressure is 200 kPa. how long does it take to reach a pressure of 300kPa inside the tank in seconds?

Explanation / Answer

So what is the problem, just write the continuity equation, make simplifying assumptions such as steady state and constant properties then a bunch of terms will go to zero. Then solve. if you include your work and where you are having an issue I will try to help further.
