Question
The hydroelectric system shown consists of two turbines extracting energy, the water (rho = 1000 kg/m3 v = 1.00 times 10-6 m2/s) streaming out into the air at the base. All pipes have circular cross-sections and are made of concrete (ks, = 1 mm). The first pipe section has diameter D1 = 100 cm and a kinetic energy correction factor of alpha =1; the middle pipe and first section of the outlet pipe have D2 = 50 cm. alpha = 1.05. and the final outflow pipe has D2 = 25 cm with alpha = 1.10. The inlet is rounded with R = 2 cm; the contraction is abrupt; the 90 degree bend has a radius of curvature of 200 cm. Outlet losses are negligible. The mass flow rate through this system is 450 kg/s. A pressure gage right before the entrance of the second turbine measures the gage pressure as 1.2rho0 in the pipe at that point Calculate the total major head losses and total minor head losses. Calculate the tubine head for turbine 1 and turbine 2.Explanation / Answer
Hi I have done the solution for this in my notebook. But the solution is too big , I cannot type it here because very less time is remaining.. So please rate me Lifesaver and I'll share the answer with you through email or cramster inbox. I don't do this generally, but I have no other option here because there's very less time left... you need not worry as I have the solution ready
