12. (12 points) The normal amino acid sequence of a particular protein gene is given below along with three mutant versions of the gene. a) What type of mutation (at the protein level) is observed in each mutant? b) For each mutation, what type(s) of DNA level change(s) could have occurred? c) In which codon(s) might the change have occurred? amino acid sequences a) protein level mutation b) DNA level change c) codon changed Normal1: ...gly-ala-ser-his- cys-leu-phe.. Mutant 1: ...gly-ala-ser-his Mutant 2: ...gly-ala-ser-leu- cys-leu-phe... Mutant 3: ...gly-val-ala-ile- ala-ser... 13. (12 points)Explanation / Answer
Answer 14 a) As BRAC mutation is a tumor suppressor gene which carry BRAC 1 gene or BRAC 2 gene. It has been known that about 5- 10% cases are been attributed to breast cancer. Aa it is also known that BRAC1 mutation is more common in female which leads to breast cancer and ovarian cancer as compare to BRAC 2 gene. It has been known that due to lack of function of BRAC 1 protein results in non functional X chromosome inactivation.
