Question

2:

A boat moving with a constant velocity vo, is propelled by a water rocket. Water (density p) is pumped from a huge tank through a pipe (diameter Dout) at the stern of the boat. The velocity profile in the pipe is uniform with a mean velocity of vout (measured relative to the boat). We would like to find the force which is produced by this propulsion system. Assuming we use a control volume which moves with the boat. What is the correct right hand side of the linear momentum equation, i,e. the sum of the linear momentum rate of change in the CV and the net linear momentum flux out of the CS?
