You are designing a new art gallery in the Blue Mountains. In keeping with the natural surrounds, timber is heavily utilized as a structural material. As shown in figure 3, the art gallery is to have A timber floor which is supported by 12 bearers (beams) 295 mm x 80 mm (depth x width). The bearers selected are of machine graded sawn, unseasoned Mountain Grey Gum (Strength group S3, Stress grade F14) The bearers have a clear span of 4m and the ends of the bearers sit on 100 mm wide supports. The compression flange of the bearers are restrained by joists at 450mm centers (Hint: Lay = 450mm) The spacing between bearers is 2.5 metres. The live load applied along the length of the bearer has been calculated to be 1.8kN/m. The dead load applied along the length of the bearer, including self weight has been calculated to be is 1.5kN/m. Check the adequacy of the bearers to the requirements of Australian standards in relation to Show all assumptions, formula, references and diagramsExplanation / Answer
