Question
The very first line, IE = (15-0.7) / (RE +Rs/(+1)) I cannot figure out how they got this. The way I figure, VB is grounded, so IE = [0 - (-15)]/RE
I have a solutions manual for the book, as well as a solutionprovided by the instructor, and all three of the solutions jump tothe same conclusion with no explanation. I cannot figure out how they got this.

Explanation / Answer
Take the loop containing Rsig and RE. Write KVL 0-(-15)=IB x 2.5 +IE x RE +0.7......... [0.7 is the voltage drop across emitter basejunction] 15-0.7=IE x 2.5/(+1) +IE xRE......... [IE=(+1)IB] IE = (15-0.7) / (RE +2.5/(+1)) In future please state the problem with relevant figure, so thatthose who doesn't have the book can answer your question.
