Determine both their source voltage and current (in phase form) on the following circuit that contains an ideal iron-core transformer. Also, derermine the value that could be used to noodel the input impedance of the transformer with the specifial loads connected to the secondary winding.Explanation / Answer
Since the two resistors are in parallel the 60 volt 0 degree is across the transformer coil. By the turns ratio a = 1/2 ==> Vsource = 60/2 or 60/Vsource = 2/1 = 30 volts. Now the I source is equal to 30 angle 0 /-5*j = 6 at an angle of 90 degrees, just complex number manipulation. Finally, the input impedance of the transformer goes by the turns ratio squared. On the right side the two 20 ohm resistors reduce to one 10 ohm R. If we want to model the input impedance we can refer the 10 ohm to the low voltage side, we see that the impedance refered to the low voltage side is 10 *(1/2)^2 = 10/4.
