c please

You are presented with 2 lenses and a mounting tube. Your task is to assemble a refracting telescope. One lens has a diameter of 5 inches and a focal length of 1000 mm. The second lens has a diameter of 3/4" and a focal length of 75 mm. How/Where should you place the lenses in the tube to maximize the magnification power of the telescope? Where will an image of a star/nebula/galaxy be focused with respect to the smaller lens? M42, the Orion Nebula, is 60 are-minutes in diameter at its smallest. What sire will it appear to be in the telescope you have created?

Explanation / Answer

a) Lens with greater focal length (1000mm) is objective and the lens with 75mm focal length is eye piece.

Distance of separation between the lenses should be 1000mm + 75mm=1075mm.

b) The image of objective formed at focal length distance to it acts as an object to eye piece and so image is formed at far point With respect to smaller lens(eye piece).
