The sun is powered by the fusion reactions. The substantial gravitational collapse is not much needed to produce the energy. The missing of neutrinos is explained by the oscillating neutrinos. It can be explained using the neutrino physics. There are three types (called ‘flavours’) of neutrinos. These are electron neutrinos (e), muon neutrinos (µ) and tau neutrinos () each of these is a neutral,low-mass version of a corresponding charged lepton.The sun produces only electron neutrinos.
The detectors used earlier used to detect only electron neutrinos. But according to the neutrio oscillation theory neutrinos can switch flavours. The reason neutrino observatories detected only one third the expected number of neutrinos is because two thirds have switched into flavours that could not be detected. Therefore, this is the reason for the missing neutrinos from the sun.
