Researchers produced wild type DNA and 3 mutant DNA. They mixed DNA from this four types, each time they mixed two of them, warm them up for denaturation and after that cooled down DNA mixes and DNA molecules recompound. Researchers looked into recompounded DNA through electron microscope distinguishing between one strand and two strand DNA. On the picture you can see the location of deletions in all mutants. As we can see in all of the mixtures of DNA either wild-type or mutant they can form a heteroduplex because they have some regions as complementary sequences.
They all have few sequence similarities and few dissimilarities generated due to mutation or deletion in the mutant strains.
