please give me correct answers and show work

PHYS 2211 Name Ma a ladana Show all work including units Any or number wil be found on the last page ASalways, resistance the problem one you For full me answer four of the five problems indica do not want alarge through it. 1) In the figure shawn, the puley and topes are massess and the puley's beanng is frictionless Mass A (8.79 sits on stable with a coeficient of friction between of w 0.22 and mass B (4.35 kg) is held at rest and then released After mass a has fallen 0.75 m, a) How fast is mass B b) How much work has been done t friction7 cy What is the average acceleration this distance? over

Explanation / Answer

for hanging mass:

from Newton's second law, we have

   MBa = MBg - T

     T = MBg - MBa

For mass MA:

from Newton's second law, we have

   MAa = T - fk

   MAa = T - ukMAg

   MAa = {MBg - MBa } - ukMAg

(MA+MB)a = MBg - ukMAg

thus, the acceleration of the blocks is,

   a = [MBg - ukMAg] / (MA+MB)

      = {4.35*9.8 - 0.22*8.79*9.8} / [8.79+4.35]

      = 1.802 m/s2

the velocity is calculated as follows:

   v = sqrt[2as] = sqrt[2*1.802*0.75] = 1.644 m/s = 1.64 m/s

the work done due to friction:

    W = ukMAgs = 0.22*8.79*9.8*0.75 = 14.2 J

average acceleration:

    a = v2/2g = 1.64*1.64/2*9.8 = 0.138 m/s2
