Question

hello,

I post it the question earlier and it was answered. the question involve deflection angle. i understand the first step where convert 78-39-46 from bearing to Azimuth so he add 180=258... then I am getting really confuse why he/she add or sebtracting 180??? this is what i know we get the azimuth AQ then add if its right angle or sebtract if its left to get the QB Azimuth and so on ... but Its confusing the +- 180 so would you expline why and when we add or sebtract 180 and solve the question if you can. by the way I know how to convert Azimuth to bearing so if you can just focus on finding the azimuth part please! Thank you

Explanation / Answer

180 is added or subtracted as the reference for these azimuth is from north. Also these azimuth are in whole circle bearing system. Also if for line forward bearing is less than 180 then 180 is added otherwise subtracted to obtain backward bearing.
