Determine the equivalent diameter and pressure drop for 2500 L/s at air flowing through a rectangular duct of dimensions 240 cm x 180 cm that is 114 m long. If the following were installed on the duct part a, Calculate the total external losses show schematic diagram for the supply duct? Two 90^degree Elbow. 45^degree T branch Fire damper Volume damper Supply register what does duct material for HVAC has on the global environment, economy and society? List five impacts?

Explanation / Answer

equivalent diameter= De= 2*a*b/(a+b)

where a and b are sides of rectangle

De= 2*240*180/(240+180)= 205.7 cm

pressure drop is given by

deltaP= Q*L*8*u/(3.14*R^(4))

Q= flow rate= 2500 L/s= 2500cm^3/s

L=pipe length= 11400cm

u= air viscosity= 1.98*10^(-5)

R= De/2= 102.85 cm

deltaP= 1.2867 Pascals.

I have done the first part of question as asked by you.
