I’ve been to my biology lecture and I wasn’t able to understand these key points. 1. The advantages of the classification system are:
Disadvantages: organisms that may not exactly fit in one group would be added to another group. These systems are older, monera well as Protista are grouped together without them having similar biological attributes.
2. Algae are photosynthetic organisms that are prophylactic. These are chlorophyll containing organisms that may be microscopic to unicellular, or may be multicellular and very large. These are autotrophic, and maintain the oxygen supply of the planet. Some of the algae are closely related to plants whereas, some are closely related to the protist groups. Algae are classified in the kingdom Protista. The main groups of algae are- diatoms, chlorophyta, euglenophyta, dinoflagellata, chrysophyta, phaeophyta, rhodobacteria, And Cyanobacteria.
3. According to the theory of evolution, single celled creatures which are plant like, but the origin of algae is not known. Origin is almost 3.1 to 3.4 years ago, where fossil records have been found. Some of the oldest fossils are fossilised in blue green algae.
4. Since most of the species in the excavata are asymmetrical where a feeding groove from one end were excavated. This includes organisms that include photosynthetic, parasitic, with heterotrophic predators. Since most of the taxi do not have mitochondria, these are all consideeed under the requirements of archaic premitochondrial ancestors of the eukaryotes. Hence, they all form in the same group.
5. Kinetoplastida are flagellated protists and these contain organelles with large mass of DNA which are referred to as Kinetoplasr. Hence, it derives the name Kinetoplastida. These cause disease in animals and humans and thus do not contain photosynthetic properties.
