Question
Task 1: Exercise 24
Problem 1: Prepare a structural steel materials list for the roof-framing plan shown in Figure 24-1. The columns are 16 feet high. How many pounds of steel need to be purchased for the roof?
Problem 5: Determine the amount of metal deck that needs to be purchased to construct the floor shown in Figure 24-1. Add 12 percent for waste and lapping. Ignore the opening.
Problem 6: Determine the cost to install the metal deck for the floor shown in Figure 24-1 using a productivity of 3.1 labor hours per square (100 square feet) and an average labor rate of $37.58 per labor hour.

Q. 1 Ans :
Area of the floor = 42 x 70 = 2940 sq ft
By experience, steel required per sq ft is 3.5 to 4 Kg/sqft.
Total required steel = 2940 x 3.75 Kgs = 11025 Kgs = 11025 x 2.20 lbs = 24255 lbs.
Q. No. 5.
Assuming $ R is the cost of steel per lab
Regarding cost/amount = $(1.12 x 24255) x R = $ 27165.6 R
Q. No. 6.
Using the productivity ratio of 3.1/100 per sqft.
Total productivity for the whole area is = 24255 x 3.1/100 = 751.905
Cost for this area = 751.905 x $37.58 = $ 28256.59
