Question
Problem: "A piston cylinder device contains 1kg of R-134a at -30 C. The initial volume is .15 m^3." Determine: a) if the initial status (status 1) is liquid, vapor, or a mixture. from the initial condition, the device is heated until the temperature reaches 100 C (status 2). b) represent status' on p-v diagram, calculate the final volume. Approach: i calculated my specific value to be v1 = V/M , was it .15/1 so .15 m^3/kg on tables i found that at this state the sat liquid volume was .0007203 and sat vapor volume was .22580, so my volume of .15 fit between those so i think this is a liquid. Is this correct? After this i know that my second temperature (T2) is 100 C, but im having problems finding the volume for that. i believe its either .19254 for sat or .0007259 for liquid form. Im not sure what to do next to get the value, i believe its one of those volume values on the line above divided by m but im not sure how to get the final volume. Any help will be greatly appreciated and a lifesaver! thanks!Explanation / Answer
