You are looking at a cell under the microscope and you observe Picasc indicatc your conclusions about this ccll: 1) Which one is true? a. Haplaid b. Diploid 2) What is the total number of chromosomes in this cell? 3) What is the total number af chromatids in this cel? 4) Based on your observations, fill in the blanks of this equation that would characterize this cell: 5) How many chromosomes would you find in a cell of this organism during prophase of mitosis? 6) How many chromatids would you see in one nuclaus at the end of telophase of mitosis? 9:29 PM 1/212018 Type here to searchExplanation / Answer
1.- The cell is diploid (has its set of chromosomes in duplicate)
2.- The cell has 6 chromosomes
3.-The number of chromatids is 12
4.-The equation that characterize the cell is 2n= n + n
5.- I would find those same 6 chromosomes, I would even think that this cell is already in prophase since the chromatids are already duplicated and the chromosomes are somewhat aligned (transition phase to the metadase, in the metaphase they would be perfectly aligned)
6.-No chromatids (0 chromatids), in any case you would see only the chromosomes without duplicating, and not even that, because at this point of mitosis the DNA is no longer condensed.
7.- (This may be a tricky question) Metaphase II corresponds to meiosis and in this case only 3 chromosomes are seen
8.- 3 pairs of chromosomes and also perfectly aligned (in this part of mitosis this happens)
9.-
For a) If with gamete refers to that cell that reached Telophase II are 6 pg per gamete
For b) 12 pg, the cell above is entering the mitosis, if it were as a somatic cell does not require to have your information in duplicate
For c) 24 pg S phase represents a cell growth interval, when DNA replication is complete (duplicated chromosomes)
For d) 12 pg in each cell nucleus.
