(2 point) B) Why the tube number 5 has the highest absorbance? (2 point) C) Which test tube is designed as "no enzyme control"? (2 point) D) Why tube 1 and tube 2 have the same absorbance of zero? (2 point) E) Based on the data above: (2 points) What is the independent variable? What is the dependent variable? F) Please describe how a competitive inhibitor works in an enzymatic reaction. (5 points)Explanation / Answer
a. Hydrogen peroxide is a substrate for enzyme peroxidase. and peroxidase enzyme is present in potato. In test tube 1 potato extract is not present so no enzyme in test tube first.
d. In Tube fast potato extract is not present so no peroxidase enzyme in tube first but substrate hydrogen peroxide is present.
In tube second potato extract means peroxidase enzyme is present but the substrate hydrogen peroxide is absent. That is why both do first and second have zero absorbance.
E. Independent variable: buffer is independent variable because it doesn't have any effect on absorbance.
Dependent variables: potato extract which have peroxidase enzyme and hydrogen peroxide which act as a substrate is dependent variables.
b. tube no. 5 has highest concentatio. of potato extract that is why highest absorbance occured.
