Please help solve this problem.. written steps and logic

The schematic diagram of a kite in flight (with forces) is shown in Figure 1 given below. The kite has an effective area of 0.40 m2 and weighs 2 N. In a wind speed of 40 km/h, the drag on the kite is 11.9 N. The density of air is 1.208 kg/m3. Figure 1 Determine the following quantities: the tension (T) in the chord, if the chord makes an angle of 45degree with the horizontal as shown in the figure. the lift coefficient (CL). Information Provided L = CL 1/2 rho U2A

Explanation / Answer

From given fig it's clear that

Drag force = D= T*cos45

or, 11.9 = T*cos45,

T = 16.8291N.

2) Lift force = T*sin45 + W = 13.9 N,

So coff. of lift = 2*L / (rho * U *U *A)

Note we have to convert wind speed from Km / h to m/sec by multiplying 5/18

So wind speed = 40*5/18 =11.11 m/sec

Putting Values,

Coff of lift = 0.466
